It's insane how AMD is gaining ahead of Intel.

AMD is gaining terrain, fast. Like it, is gonna give Intel a run for the money.

My x470 board for my build just arrived yesterday xD no way I am upgrading, gonna wait another 3 - 4 years at least (I don't think it will be worth it anytime soon as well

I am old fashioned. I don't overclock my PC's (just the RAM to work properly). My 2700x is nicely at 3.7Ghz. Otherwise the cooler turns on while I am working and I don't want that. I am old. 43 in a few days. But maybe I should look into that whole overclocking thing before it's too late. I'd had to start at 0 though

I'll eat my serving of crow for saying there wouldn't be a "t-rex." After they pushed the 2080ti to its price bracket & after they tried to position the titan line as enterprise rather than gaming I didn't think they'd release another one. It'll be interesting to see if it's faster than the Titan V because if it isn't then I have no idea why it exists due to the tiny differences outside of the ram capacity. Other than $$$ reasons I guess.

I dont even mind about x570 being the last AM4 boards. I was thinking about upgrading my cpu next year anyway and if I already get PCIe 4.0 support, thats just the cherry on top. I will upgrade my GPU some time later, maybe when the GPUs can really take advantage of PCIe 4.0

I think that the 200GE would be an interesting price point for NAS builds if it has support for ECC RAM?

$2500. Wow. Could probably buy a real trex bone for that money!

The Athlon brings me back since it was the chip series I used to build my first computer. I think it's cool AMD says they don't support but if you have questions ask MSI. To me, it seems like they don't have any intention of patching it.

Also, what advantages does PCIE 4.0 give the regular consumer?

When it comes to x570, its very tempting. I have a lower end AM4 chip and if I were to upgrade to a better chip after 2020 i would probably go for the best x570 board that i could buy.

my plan is this time next year, I'll probably be getting zen 3 and a 570 board (for the pcie 4.0 so im a bit future proof) with hopefully a navi gpu. previous desktop was an i3 4160 with 8gb ram. little step up there

HOLD UP NOOBS....there are a few of us that dont play AAA shit games. fuck EA. we want to see how the 9900k and RTX 2080ti F'n TITAIN does against a game that is CPU bound. SWTOR. toos this kiddy console PUBG and FORTNITE BS out the door. lets see how a real rig does against a game that limits FPS in PVP vs open pve. cut the click bait BS

Honestly, with nothing going really bad except some things computer parts were good solid 10 years is the life of a computer back in those 2001 and the other following years but due to this stupid generation cycles and other less innovative things, it would be better to keep updating a CPU or a GPU after 3 or five years would be a great innovation or generation cycle change dumping the same stuff with little or no improvement with just a naming scheme change is useless basically not innovation in that RYZEN and the next RYZEN update not much in change but still touted as a big change.

titan = borderline workstation gpu..... comes pretty close to the p6000 at half the price. same with the 9900k - its a borderline workstation cpu

"Borderline" doesn't justify the price IMO. Titans dont have the optimized Quadro drivers which is one of the main reasons to go workstation. I think it just has too many compromises for too little an upgrade. Titan V had a very good reason for its price tag given its brand new architecture. as for the 9900k you mentioned it depends on the application. AMD's 2700 at 320$ might not be a real option for an adobe user , but it is for workstation class 3d modeling at a consumer level. Then again, I could say, get a threadripper CPU since its 32 cores for a fraction of an EPYC CPU. I'm not bashing btw. just adding to the conversation.

+mps IK, and you just said that it depends on different workloads, so don't just go saying it's a borderline workstation chip, it's different for everyone

Vor 6 Tage

+8Lec very much depends on the application. for me - adobe user - amd is no real option
